PLANNER, DESIGNER, COORDINATOR | WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE?

EVENT PLANNER

Event planning is the big umbrella that encompasses everything that has to do with the organisation of special occasions. Think of the event planner as the project manager.

Much like the project manager, the event planner oversees the entire event. We take the guesswork out of the process. Our work consists mostly of planning and coordinating every aspect of the event, from guests to food and beverages, staff, security, and entertainment. We have a vision in mind and we make sure that comes to life. 

Our event planning duties begin by meeting with our clients to discuss the event, your goals and ideas, the budget and – very importantly – how much you want the planner to be involved. 

From there, we contact vendors and venues for pricing and put together an estimation of the vendors’ services costs, and the total cost estimation (we call this budget planning). 

On the day of the event, we are there with our coordination team, from start to finish to check on all the details and to solve any problems which may occur throughout the day.

EVENT COORDINATOR

Once the vision for the event has been determined, the coordinator comes in to take over.

If the couple requires only coordination services we usually begin by helping you prepare a month before the event and function as the point person on the wedding day.

In general, a coordinator goes over all the vendor contracts (to know what to expect on the day), creates a day-of timeline and tackles anything which may arise on the day. Duties on the day of the event include overseeing all vendors and relevant support staff, including florists, caterers, DJs etc.

A coordinator makes sure that everything you have done up until we take over is in good shape. Everything is in order, nothing is forgotten, and you are free to enjoy your event day!

If however, the couple opts for our planning experience, we have coordinators of the day which assist the planner in making your wedding dream a reality. The wedding planner will plan everything up to the day of the wedding, and allow the coordinator to take over and see it through to the end. 

EVENT STYLIST

The event stylist is the creative part of the event-planning machine. It is the art/skill that relates to decorating an event.

An event stylist is the person in charge of the visual identity of an occasion. As a stylist, we take our client’s vision for the event and bring it to life.

We are mainly concerned with the aesthetics, artistics and overall appearance of the event. An event stylist is described to be a specialist in design, consulting on everything from floor plans and lighting design to the flowers, furniture, linens and attire.

Our design decisions create the mood that guests will experience upon entering the venue. It is our job to engage all the senses and create an entirely holistic experience for the couple and guests.

An event stylist/designer does not get involved in the planning process – we would not be involved in all the logistics and key decisions you make when it comes to vendors, only of those related to the look and feel of the wedding. 

OUR SERVICES

All in all our company offers Planning, Coordination, Styling and Flower Design. We offer these as combined services, or as completely stand alone individual services. 

We may come in and plan a wedding to the final detail, our team will coordinate the day, consult on every single aspect, design the flowers, and even roll up our sleeves and setup the decorations on the day. 

We don’t offer packaged services. We sit down with our clients, we talk for hours, we envision the wedding together, we go back to the drawing board, we come up with ideas, problems, solutions and then we come back to our couples. And we use our experience and expertise to advise them on which service better suits their needs. Because every wedding experience is unique for the couple. 

The service which we offer will depend on the couple’s needs, on the degree of the involvement which they want from us, on other factors such us the type of venue they need, or the wedding design they want.
